I attach a photo of my grandfather, Leonard Lawrence, who married Alice Leonora Titheridge. She was born in August 1900 in Bishop's Waltham, daughter of William Henry Titheridge and Annie Cooper. Leonard, born in St. Albans, was in the Royal Navy from 1915 until 1922, then in the Merchant Navy from then to 1946. In WW2 he was a T124X seaman and was on one of the (very few) escort ships in Murmansk convoy PQ17 which continued to Archangel (see Jeremy Clarksons excellent programme on YouTube on PQ17). He then joined the RFA and was in the Korean War, finally invalided out in 1955 with TB. I have his seaman's discharge books and his WW1 RN record.
